A 40-franc coin (double Napoleondor) from 1812.

An original and quite rare coin, minted for a hike in Russia. 900 gold, stamped. The weight is 12.90 grams. The Paris Mint. The diameter is 26 mm. General engraver: Jean-Pierre Droz (Droz F.), Pierre-Joseph Thiolier ("rooster" sign) On the obverse is a profile portrait of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in a laurel wreath, facing left. There is a circular legend along the edge: NAPOLEON EMPEREUR. There is a small signature of the master under the base of the neck: DROZ F. Reverse: the face value of 40 FRANCS is indicated in the center in two lines, surrounded by a laurel wreath. There is a circular inscription EMPIRE FRANÇAIS along the upper edge. (The French Empire). The year of minting 1812 is indicated in the lower part, to the left of which is the sign of the general engraver (rooster), to the right is the sign of the director of the mint (fish). The letter A (Paris) is stamped above the year to the right. Edge: Indented inscription in French * DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE (God protects France). Guarantee of authenticity.

Very good collector's condition (VF / Very Fine). The coin has a noble age-old patina, light natural signs of circulation in the form of small nicks and micro-scratches that do not violate the overall aesthetics of the object. The relief of the portrait and the details of the wreath are kept at a high level. The inscription on the edge is fully and clearly legible.
