The formations of the Airborne forces (Airborne Forces) of Great Britain are considered elite, the parachute regiment of the British Army is one of the best and most famous airborne units in the world. It consists of four battalions: the first battalion reports to the Director of Special Forces and is part of the Special Forces Support Group, the rest form the parachute component of the 16th Airborne Assault Brigade. The Parachute Regiment is the only British Army Line Infantry regiment that has never been combined with any other military formation since the end of World War II.
