The Order of the Yugoslav People's Army or simply the Order of the People's Army (Serbohorv. Order narodne armije / Orden narodne armije, maked. Order of the People's Army, Slovene. Red ljudske armade) is an award of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Order was awarded to military leaders for special achievements and merits during their service in the Yugoslav People's Army. The Order of the Yugoslav People's Army I, II and III degrees was established on December 29, 1951 by the Presidium of the People's Assembly of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. They were awarded to persons for personal merits in the organization of the armed forces of Yugoslavia or for personal success in commanding military units, their training and ensuring the country's defense capability. The Order of the I degree was called the Order with a laurel wreath, the Order of the II degree — the Order with a gold star, the Order of the III degree — the Order with a silver star.
To draw up a sketch of the order, a state competition was held, the winner of which was Andrei Andreevich from Belgrade. On May 13, 1952, the first award ceremony was held: a total of 536 people were awarded the Order with a laurel wreath, 9137 people were awarded the Order with a gold star and 45384 people were awarded the Order with a silver star by the end of 1985. The award was approved as official in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (and later in the Union of Serbia and Montenegro) by decree of December 4, 1998, but already under the name of the Order of the Army of Yugoslavia.
