The order of Glory (or the order of Nishan-Iftekhar) is the state award of Tunisia, first as a French protectorate, then a Kingdom. The order was established on 20 may 1835 by the Bey of Tunis Mustafa Ibn Mahmud dynasty Huseynov. The purpose of the institution of the order was the promotion of the French and citizens of other States with the merits of Tunisia. Original order was one degree in the form suspended from the brooches of the medallion. In 1843, the order was modified and was set six degrees (knight of the Grand ribbon, Grand officer, commander, Officer, Knight 1st class, Knight 2nd class). In 1861 Muhammad as-Sadiq Pasha, Bey canceled six degree Knight 2nd class replacing it with Gold and Silver medals. In 1957, with the overthrow of the monarchy and establishment of Republican rule, the order of Glory, among other monarchical awards, was cancelled.
