A very rare set in good collector's condition. The medal is bronze, with minor traces of wear. The document is in almost perfect condition. Awarding of Soviet soldiers and officers with this medal is quite rare, and even more so for sailors. The medal "Honored on the Field of Glory" was established by order of the General Command of the 1st Polish Corps in the USSR on November 6, 1943 and by Decree of the Polish Committee of National Liberation on December 22, 1944. The same The decree established the "Regulations on the medal" and its description. According to the Regulations, the medal is awarded to soldiers of the rank and file, sergeants and officers of the Polish People's Army, "... who, in the fight against the enemies of the motherland, with their skillful, initiative and courageous actions, involving the risk of their lives, contributed to the success of hostilities at the front." The medal "Honored on the Field of Glory" has three degrees: gold, silver and bronze medals. The highest degree is a gold medal.
The medal "Honored on the Field of Glory" had a fairly high rank and awarding it was considered very honorable. It should be noted that it was extremely difficult to earn the gold medal "Honored on the field of Glory". To do this, it was necessary: to shoot down two enemy planes in air combat; being in the crew of a tank, destroy at least three tanks or three enemy guns; destroy up to 100 enemy soldiers and officers from personal weapons (carbine or rifle).
The first award of the medal "Honored on the field of Glory" took place on November 6, 1943. The first recipients were 185 soldiers and officers of the 1st Polish Infantry Division named after T. Kosciuszko, who distinguished themselves in the battles near the village of Lenino on October 12-13, 1943. 8 people were awarded the gold medal, 65 people were awarded the silver medal and 112 people were awarded the bronze medal. In the first post-war years, an addition was made to the Regulations on the medal, according to which soldiers of the Internal Security Corps could be awarded this medal "... for services to ensuring peace and law and order within the country." The awarding of the gold medal "Honored on the Field of Glory" was discontinued in 1945, and the silver and bronze medals were discontinued in 1992.
