The original Ehrenzeichen vom Roten Kreuz, established in 1914 and renovated during the First Republic of Austria (circa 1923). The Officer's Cross (Offizierskreuz) is a Latin cross made of silver, covered with red and white enamel. In the center is a medallion with a red cross on a white background, surrounded by the inscription "PATRIAE AC HUMANITATI" (To the Fatherland and humanity) and the date "1914" or "1923" (depending on the release period). This degree is distinguished by the presence of silver rays (radiance) between the shoulders of the cross and a laurel-oak wreath covered with green enamel. Chipping and restoration of the enamel fragment on the reverse. Guarantee of authenticity. A rarity!
The award was established by Emperor Franz Joseph I in honor of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Red Cross. It was awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of voluntary humanitarian assistance in peacetime or wartime. After the fall of the monarchy, the design was slightly modified by the Republic of Austria in 1922-1923 (imperial symbols such as the crown were removed)
