Around the circumference of the medal is an inscription in Italian "PER L'ITALIA" ("FOR ITALY"). At the bottom of the medal is the marking of the master medallist in Italian P. MORBIDUCCI. On the reverse is an image of a naked warrior with a shield in his left hand and a sword in his right hand.
