Description

The original order is in excellent collector's condition. Bronze, silver plating. The order is on the original ribbon, equipped with a case. The order is rectangular in openwork shape, with an eye, an intermediate ring and a ribbon with fastening. On the obverse there is an image of a standard with a kite sitting on it with outstretched wings, against a background of crossed shields and spears (yari) with flags with a Tomoe pattern fixed on them (symbolizes the cycle as eternity, monas of this plan were used by samurai in their armorial images, for example, a clan, a Kobayakawa clan). The reverse is smooth, without any markings. The moire ribbon consists of five vertical stripes, green, white, green, white and green. A fastening system consisting of a hook and a loop is visually observed on the back of the tape. Guarantee of authenticity.

History

The Order of the Golden Kite was established on February 12, 1890 by decree of the Japanese Emperor Meiji (reign 1868-1912; birth name Mutsuhito, life years 1852-1912 (Japanese 睦仁)). The badges of the Order were awarded to servicemen of the Imperial Japanese Army and the Imperial Japanese Navy for their courage during the fighting. As an exception, foreign citizens could also be presented with the award (US Army General Douglas MacArthur; years of life 1880-1964). The Order consisted of seven classes (degrees). Ordinary soldiers had the right to be in grades 7-5, non–commissioned officers in grades 6-4, junior officers in grades 5-3, senior officers in grades 4-2 and generals in grades 3-1.

Members of the Order received an annual certain monetary payment depending on their stay in a particular class, in case of death, relatives of the murdered person received monetary allowances for the next 5 years (from 150 to 1,500 yen in 1939, in 1940 the monetary award was canceled).

1st class 1500 yen and 2nd class 1000 yen, 3rd class 700 yen, 4th class 500 yen, 5th class 350 yen, 6th class 250 yen, 7th class 150 yen.

The total number of awardees for the entire period amounted to more than a million people.
