Description

The original highest state award of France is in excellent condition. Silver, enamel,, which is the highest state award of France. The year 1870 is indicated on the blue enamel ring in the center of the medallion. The signs of this pattern were issued in the period from 1870 to 1951. A five-pointed "star" with white enamel, framed by a wreath of laurel and oak leaves with green enamel. In the center of the medallion is the profile of Marianne, the symbol of the Republic of Guarantee of authenticity.

History

The Ordre national de la Ligion d'honneur was founded by Napoleon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802. The award is awarded by the President of France for outstanding military or civilian services to the State. The organization of the Order consists of five categories (ranks): Knight, officer, commander, Grand Officer and Knight Grand Cross.
