History

The Order of the Yugoslav People's Army or simply the Order of the People's Army (Serbo-Croatian The Order of the People's Army / Orden narodne armije, maked. Order of the People's Army, Slovenia. The Red ljudske armade is an award of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Order was awarded to military leaders for special achievements and merits during their service in the Yugoslav People's Army.

The Order of the Yugoslav People's Army, I, II and III degrees, was established on December 29, 1951 by the Presidium of the People's Assembly of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. They were awarded to individuals for their personal achievements in organizing the armed forces of Yugoslavia or for their personal success in commanding military units, training them and ensuring the country's defense capability. The Order of the first degree was called the Order with a laurel wreath, the Order of the second degree — the Order with a gold star, the Order of the third degree — the Order with a silver star.

To draw up a sketch of the order, a state competition was held, the winner of which was Andrei Andreevich from Belgrade. On May 13, 1952, the first award ceremony was held: by the end of 1985, 536 people had been awarded the Order of the Laurel Wreath, 9137 people the Order of the Golden Star and 45384 people the Order of the Silver Star. The award was approved as official in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (and later in the Union of Serbia and Montenegro) by decree of December 4, 1998, but under the name of the Order of the Army of Yugoslavia.
