The original order is in good collector's condition. Bronze, silver plating, hot enamel. The badge of the Order of the 3rd degree is an inverted five-pointed multipath star with three balls at each end, superimposed on a multipath pentagon. In the center of the star is a decagonal medallion with slightly concave sides. Along the edge of the medallion there is a narrow rim of blue enamel, then a wide rim of red enamel, in the center there is a five—pointed star inscribed in a circle with two—sided rays. The sign of early manufacture is entirely silver, of later manufacture silver—plated, the asterisk is gilded. The name of the award is printed on the reverse side of the sign. The diameter is 50 mm. Guarantee of authenticity.
The Order of the National Flag (cor. 국기 훈장, gukki hunjan) is the next highest state award of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, after the Order of Kim Il Sung and the Order of Kim Jong Il. The first ever North Korean award. The Order was established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on October 12, 1948. It is awarded to officials, workers, military units, government agencies and various organizations that have particularly distinguished themselves in military, political, economic and cultural activities for the benefit of the country. In addition, the order is awarded to functionaries of the Workers' Party of Korea for long—term, impeccable work (for 25 years - 1st degree, 20 years — 2nd degree, 15 years — 3rd degree). North Korean citizens awarded the honorary titles of "Hero of the DPRK" and "Hero of Labor", as well as the winners of the Kim Il Sung Award, simultaneously become holders of the Order of the National Flag of the 1st degree. The Order is awarded to both citizens of the DPRK and foreign persons who have made a significant contribution to the creation and development of the DPRK state.
