An original and quite rare medal in excellent condition. Bronze, stamping, hot-drying golden lacquer. The official issue in Spain for veterans of the division. On the original ribbon with a hairpin. Obverse: A German helmet above two shields with symbols of Nazi Germany pierced with a sword. Reverse: inscription in Spanish "Division Espanola De Voluntarios en Rusia" ( "Spanish Volunteer Division in Russia"). Guarantee of authenticity. Rare.
The original title "Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus" is "A commemorative medal of the Spanish volunteers in the struggle against Bolshevism." It was established on January 3, 1944. The medal was awarded to soldiers of the Spanish Blue Division who took part in the war against the Soviet Union. In total, about 47,000 people were awarded (mostly Spaniards, but there were several hundred more Portuguese). In Germany, the medal was manufactured by Deschler & Sohn in Munich. The ribbon is similar to the ribbon of the Iron Cross of the second class, but with a yellow stripe in the middle.
