Medal "For the Spanish Campaign of 1936-1939"

The original medal is in excellent condition. Bronze, stamping, blackening. The medal is on the original ribbon. The obverse of the medal, edged with laurel leaves, depicts a Spanish lion defeating a dragon symbolizing communism (there is a sickle and hammer on the dragon). There are four swords in the background in the rays of the sun, arranged vertically and horizontally. The date 17 JVLIO 1936 (July 17, 1936) was written, which marked the beginning of an armed rebellion by the Spanish military against the Republicans. On the reverse side, the words ARRIBA ESPAÑA (from Spanish — "Forward Spain") are present in the edging. The circular inscription is GENESSMO. FRANCO VICTOR. — UNA GRANDE, LIBRE, IMPERIAL, M HISP. GLOR.. (from Spanish — "Forward Spain"). In the center there is an eagle holding in its claws the coat of arms of the time of Francisco Franco. A bunch of crossed arrows is depicted under the wing — the sign of the Spanish phalanx. Below is a stylized Spanish steel helmet representing the armed forces. So, three forces (state, party and military) were depicted here, which symbolizes their unity. Guarantee of authenticity.

The Medalla de la Campagna Española is a Spanish military award from the Spanish Civil War, intended for distinguished members of the Spanish Phalanx, the Condor Legion, the Italian Corps of Volunteer Troops, Russian White Guards (mainly ranks of the Kornilov Shock Regiment) and Ukrainian nationalists. It was established on January 26, 1937. The exact number of awardees is unknown. As of January 2019, 8 medal holders remained alive. The medal was supposed to be worn in the center of the left breast pocket. The medal intended for military personnel has a ribbon with a bright yellow stripe in the center followed by two red stripes and two narrow black stripes along the edges. The medal, which is not intended for a serviceman (a civilian taking an active part in hostilities or non—combatant persons), has a green ribbon around the edges instead of a black one. Also, for the soldiers of the Condor Legion, it was possible to add the ribbon of the medal to the order bar common to German soldiers.
