The original medal is in excellent collectible condition. Bronze, gilding. On the front side there is a portrait of the President of Yugoslavia, Marshal Josip Broz Tito. On the reverse side is the inscription "40. GODINA JUGOSLAVENSKE NARODNE ARMIJE" ("40th anniversary of the Yugoslav People's Army"). The shoe is triangular in shape with a red ribbon with four blue stripes. The method of fastening is a pin. Guarantee of authenticity.
During the Second World War, on 12/21/1941, the partisan First Proletarian People's Liberation Shock Brigade of the People's Liberation Troops of Yugoslavia was created in the city of Rudo (on the territory occupied by Germany). This date was later considered the date of the foundation of the Yugoslav People's Army. In 1945, the armed forces were named the Yugoslav Army, and in 1951 - the Yugoslav People's Army. The medal for the 40th anniversary of the Yugoslav People's Army was issued in 1981.
