The 2nd Army was formed in October 1914. During the Second World War in the period from 1939 to 1943, the army consisted of five army corps: V-th, VI-th, XI-th, XIV-th and XVIII-th. At the beginning of 1941, the army was reinforced with two more corps: "Corpo di Armata Celere" and "Corpo di Armata Autotrasportabile".
