An original and quite rare medal in excellent condition. Silver, enamel, stamping. The medal is on the original shoe. The size is 37*52 mm. The case is included. On the obverse of the medal, an eagle with wings raised up is superimposed on a round laurel wreath with a Spanish crown, on the chest of which the symbols of the phalanx and the Wehrmacht are placed – a bunch of arrows, an iron cross, a swastika. On the reverse side there is a somewhat unexpected design for religious Catholic Spaniards: surrounded by a broken chain are the domes of St. Sophia Cathedral of Veliky Novgorod, towering behind the wall of the Novgorod Kremlin, and on this wall there is an inscription: "Rusia 1941". The white moire ribbon of the medal has a width of 30 mm and is beaten off on the left with stripes in the colors of the Iron Cross, and on the right – the Spanish flag. Guarantee of authenticity.
Immediately after the decision was made to withdraw the "Blue Division" from the Soviet Union, on November 9, 1943, General Franco signed a decree establishing the "Medal of the Blue Division for the Campaign in Russia" (La Medalla de la División Azul de la Campaña de Rusia). It was supposed to be handed to everyone who: served in the division for at least six months, or actively participated in close combat three times, or was seriously wounded. Thousands of veterans of the Blue Division have received medals, but nowadays it is very rare.
