French Medal of Honor of the Ministry of Trade and Industry 2 art. sample 1886

Silver, stamping, engraving. The diameter is 26.5 mm. The medal is round in shape, with an ear, an intermediate ring and a ribbon. In the center of the obverse is a profile image of the symbol of the French Revolution, Marianne, crowned with a laurel wreath of the winner. Around the circumference there is an inscription in French "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" ("REPUBLIC OF FRANCE"). For five hours, the marking of the master medallist in French A. Borrel (Alfred Borel, 1836-1927). In the central part of the reverse of the medal, the owner's filled cartouche of the recipient with the inscription in French "M.L. HAFFNER 1929" against the background of a rod crowned with wings and entwined with snakes (Hermes caduceus; Hermes is the ancient Greek god, the patron saint of trade, profit and cunning), a torch, oak branches with leaves. At the bottom of the medal, in a ribbon cartouche, there is an inscription in French "HONNEUR. TRAVAIL" ("HONOR. LABOR"). The inscription around the circle (French) is "MINISTERE DU COMMERCE ET DE LINDUSTRIE" ("MINISTRY OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY"). For five hours, the marking of the master medallist in French A. Borrel (Alfred Borel, 1836-1927). The medal is on the original ribbon consisting of three horizontal stripes, blue, white and red, symbolizing the national colors of the flag of the French Republic. The Medal of Honor of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (original name in French "Medaille d'honneur du ministere du Commerce et de l'Industrie" was established on July 16, 1886. Individuals were awarded for 30 years of work experience.  The design of the award was designed by the master medallist A. Borrel (Alfred Borel, years of life 1836-1927).
