The original medal is in excellent condition. The obverse of the medal depicts the coat of arms of the Bulgarian Kingdom against a background of crossed swords and surrounded by laurel and oak branches. The reverse depicts the years of Bulgaria's participation in the World War 1915-1918 and a wreath of wheat, laurel and oak leaves, symbolizing Macedonia, Thrace and Moesia. The ribbon has a triangular shape and a red stripe in the middle, there are green and white stripes along the edges. Medals for civilians have a white stripe instead of a red stripe, and for relatives of the killed — a black stripe. The medal was worn on the left side of the chest. The medals were made in Germany and Switzerland and sent to Bulgaria in several batches.
