The Order of Military Merit (bolg. Order of Military Merit) It was established by decree of Prince Ferdinand I on August 2, 1891. The order was intended to be awarded to military personnel for impeccable military service (in peacetime) and for special services during the war (with military honors). The Order of Military Merit was restored, with some changes, on June 13, 2003 and is currently the State award of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The order had a Grand Cross, six degrees and two categories: with military distinction (laurel crown), issued during the war and without military distinction, issued in peacetime. The badge of the order is a Pisan cross with crossed swords between the ramen. The cross of all degrees, except the sixth, is covered with dark red enamel and has a hanging link in the form of a crown (crosses of the fifth and sixth degrees could also be without a crown). The lowest degree of the order was the vith, it was not covered with enamel and was entirely silver in color.
