Description

Bronze, silvering, stamping. Excellent collector's condition. This is an officer's cross for 10 years of service, as evidenced by its silver color. Crosses for non-commissioned officers and lower ranks were bronze or gilded. The award is made in the form of a Leopold's cross with beads around the edge and dotted filling of the cavities between them. In the center of the obverse side (the image shows the reverse side), the monogram of the reigning monarch (for example, Ferdinand I or Boris III) a medallion with the inscription "Excellent service" ("Excellent service"). On the reverse side, the central medallion depicts a crowned Bulgarian lion standing on its hind legs with a Saxon Shield superimposed on it, which is typical of early Type I issues (1889-1918) during the reign of Prince/Tsar Ferdinand I. The award was worn on a triangular ribbon, the colors of which varied depending on the type and period of issue (in this case, white, black, and yellow). The original case is included.
