The badge of the order belongs to the 6th (lowest) degree of the Order of St. Alexander, which was a silver cross (without enamel). The central medallion on the reverse (pictured in the photo) shows the date "FEBRUARY 19, 1878" (February 19, 1878 in the old style). This date marked the signing of the San Stefano Peace Treaty, which led to the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule and the creation of an autonomous Bulgarian principality. The order itself was established by decree of Prince Alexander I of Battenberg on December 25, 1881. The Order was awarded to Bulgarian and foreign citizens for outstanding civil and military services, as well as for loyal service to the monarch and the nation. The award is worn on a dark red (crimson) ribbon, folded in a triangle characteristic of Russian and some other awards. Guarantee of authenticity.
