Around the circumference of the inscription in English the inscription «THE BURMA STAR» ( "BURMESE STAR"). The reverse is smooth, without any markings. On the original tape. Guarantee of authenticity.

History

The star was established (originally in 1943) on May 8, 1945 on the proposal of Prime Minister W. Churchill (1940-1945), First Lord of the Treasury and Minister of Defense at the behest of His Majesty, in honor of the victory of the Allied forces over the countries of the Hitlerite coalition. The bulk of the awards took place immediately after the end of World War II (September 2, 1945). The star was awarded to servicemen of the countries of the British Commonwealth, as well as the crews of its merchant fleet. The star was awarded for service in the territories in the periods:

1) Burma – from December 11, 1941 to September 2, 1945.

2) Bay of Bengal – from December 11, 1941 to September 2, 1945.

3) Hong Kong – from December 26 — 1941 to September 2, 1945.

4) China and Malaya – from February 16, 1942 to September 2, 1945.

5) Sumatra – from March 24, 1942 to September 2, 1945.

6) Assam and Bengal – from May 1, 1942 to September 2, 1945.

To receive the award , the following standards were established for staying in these areas under the conditions of the above - mentioned terms:

1) For army servicemen – 1 day or more of operational service.

2) For military personnel of aviation units – 1 or more operational or combat sorties.

3) For sailors of the military and merchant fleet – 6 months of deployment in the Bay of Bengal (in case of injury, injury or death, the award was issued without taking into account the time of service).

This award belongs to the so-called unnamed type due to the absence of an inscription on the reverse side of the star (the exceptions were awards for Australian and South African servicemen whose stars were nominal). In addition to the star for the 2nd World War "BURMA", 7 more of the same stars were established (also on May 8, 1945), but with different inscriptions and color design of the ribbons. When re-awarding, instead of a repeated star, a buckle with the inscription "PACIFIC" was issued (Russian translation; PACIFIC OCEAN). The Star for World War II "Burma" ("Burmese Star") is one of the honorary awards of Great Britain during World War II.
