The original order is in excellent collector's condition. Silver, enamel, gilding. The order is a white enamel cross with a golden border. In the central medallion, on a red background, there is an inscription in Old Slavonic script "St. ALEXANDER." The medallion is surrounded by a white ring with the golden motto of the order "GOD is with us" (God is with us). The ribbon is moire red, folded in a triangle (the traditional shape for Bulgarian and Austro-Hungarian awards). An award with swords above a cross, which indicates the award for military merit in peacetime. Guarantee of authenticity.
This award was established on December 25, 1881 by Prince Alexander I of Battenberg in honor of his patron saint, the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky. The order was intended to be awarded to both subjects of the Bulgarian Kingdom and foreign citizens for outstanding state, civil or military services. It existed until 1948, when it was finally abolished by the Communist government of Bulgaria.
