French infantry artillery cleaver of the 1816 model

The blade is steel, straight, double-edged, with one lobe for two thirds of the length and two lobes for one third on both sides. The brands on the heel are missing or badly worn. The hilt is brass, solid cast, and consists of a handle and a crosspiece. The hilt is fastened with three rivets. The handle is barrel-shaped, with embossed scales. The handle head is oval in shape with a rivet, made in the shape of a semicircular cap. The crosspiece is straight with round ends. On the crosspiece, the number "1031" is the number of the cleaver, a similar number is pierced at the mouth of the scabbard. The scabbard is made of leather with a brass device consisting of a mouth with a suspension bracket and a tip with a ball.

The item is in good collector's condition. Surface corrosion marks on the blade. Temporary patina on the hilt and scabbard device.
