The cleaver of the English colonial troops

The blade is steel, straight, flat, without shafts, single-edged, expanding towards the combat end. The combat end is beveled. The stamped inscription "S – D – T 11158", the brand of the manufacturer, is applied on the left side of the blade. The handle is made of wood, one-piece (U-shaped), attached to the shank of the blade using three rivets, with a cutout in the center. The scabbard is leather with a leather loop for fastening on a belt; near the mouth they are not sewn for the free entry of the cleaver. At the mouth of the scabbard there is a brass stud and a hole for fixing the cleaver in the scabbard. A brass plate in the form of the coat of arms of Great Britain is fixed on the scabbard under the crown with the inscription "SOUTH AFRICA — ZUID AFRIKA" in a circle.

the item is in good collector's condition. Traces of rough handling and minor surface blade marks. Scuffs, scratches, and signs of use on the scabbard and hilt.
