A rare icon of type 1 in good condition. It was given to the members of the German Union of soldiers – one of the many veterans ' organizations of the Weimar Republic, acting in the territory of Bavaria. This Association was established in Munich in 1922, and adopted a conservative right-wing ideology. In June 1928 it merged with another veterans organization "Union of Tannenberg" (Tannenbergbund), but by the end of the year, the German Union veterans began to thin out. In December 1928 of the veterans chose to join the other land associations – the"Bavarian homeland protection" (Bayerischer Heimatschutz), and in March 1931 the remaining members of the organization almost entirely transferred to the Union "Steel Helmet" (Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten). Without followers, at the end of 1931, the German Union veterans ceased to exist.
The membership badge is made in the form of vertical octagon, the top of which was located in the arch profile looking to the right of the soldier in steel helmet 1916 sample the lower half of an octagon framed by a Laurel wreath.
