Description

Original and quite rare cross in perfect collectible condition. The Baltic cross is made in the shape of an equilateral straight (so called Greek) cross, similar to cross from the coat of arms of the Grand master of the German Teutonic order. Award is made of bronze with niello and gilding lining. The guarantee of authenticity.

History

Baltic cross (it. Baltenkreuz) — the award of the Weimar Republic. Established in 1919 by the Baltic National Committee (political representation of the German population living on the shores of the Baltic sea: South of Livonia and Courland (now part of modern Latvia and Lithuania)). The award, which had originally, the Statute of the memorial sign, established to honor members of the militia of the Baltic countries — and the Landeswehr volunteers, of German origin, took part in the battles with the red Army in the Baltic region in 1918-1919 at least three months. The award began in July 1919. All were produced 21839 award. According to the Annex to the "Law on titles, medals and state awards" from 07.04.1933 G. approved 15.05.1934 G. (RGBl. I, No. 52 v. 16.05.1934, p. 379) and on the basis of the Order from 16.11.1935 G.(RGBl. I, No. 127 V. 16.11.1935, p. 1341ff.) the entry into force of this Supplement, the Baltic cross was equal to the state awards of the Third Reich and were allowed to carry a veteran microscale. In the postwar period in accordance with section 6.1 of the Federal law "About titles, orders and honorary signs" (§ 6 Abs. 1 No. 1 of the law on titles, medals and regalia /Ordensgesetz of 26. July 1957/BGBl. I, No. 37 to 05.08.1957, pp. 844-847), the Baltic cross was equated with the state awards of the Federal Republic of Germany and is allowed to wear, along with other prigorovski award — Silesian sign of merit. Awarding of the Baltic cross was accompanied by a corresponding entry in a Soldier's book.
