Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz (Spanish: Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz; August 13, 1926, Biran, Oriente, Republic of Cuba — November 25, 2016, Havana) was a Cuban revolutionary, statesman, politician and party leader who led Cuba from 1959 to 2008. At the State level, he served as Prime Minister (1959-1976) and Chairman of the Council of Ministers (1976-2008), Chairman of the Council of State of Cuba (1976-2008). He was the leader of the July 26 Movement, the main force of the Cuban Revolution, which later transformed into the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC). He served as the first secretary of the CPC until 2011. Under his leadership, Cuba was transformed into a one-party socialist state, industry and private property were nationalized, and large-scale reforms were carried out. Internationally, he was the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1979-1983 and 2006-2009.

Ernesto Che Guevara (Spanish Ernesto Che Guevara [ˈtʃe ɣeˈßaɾa], full name — Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, Spanish Ernesto Guevara (June 14, 1928 Rosario, Santa Fe — October 9, 1967 La Higuera, Santa Cruz) was an Argentine revolutionary, commander of the Cuban Revolution of 1959 and a Cuban statesman. In addition to the Latin American continent, he also operated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other countries of the world. Che's nickname was used by Ernesto's associates, emphasizing his Argentine origin. The interjection che is a common usage in Argentina.
