Star of the Grand Cross of the Order of the White Falcon, Saxony-Weimar

An original and very rare star of the order in excellent collectible condition. 900 silver, enamel. On the reverse there is a partially erased brand of the manufacturer "T.H. Müller Hofjuwelier Weimar". Guarantee of authenticity.

The ancestral Order of the White Falcon (German: Hausorden vom Weißen Falken) is a dynastic award of the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. It was established by Ernst August I, Duke of Saxe-Weimar in 1732. It was also known as the Ancestral Order of Vigilance. The award was given to members of Ernst August's family and people whom he singled out for their personal merits. Over time, the number of recipients decreased, and by 1806 the order had almost died out and consisted of one knight. The order was revived in 1815 by Duke Karl August.

Initially, the Order of the White Falcon had three degrees, and the number of members was limited: Grand Cross — up to 12 members, not counting members of the duke's family, commander — up to 25 members, knight — up to 50 members. In 1840, the grade II Knight degree was introduced and the number of members increased. Later there were five degrees: the commander's degree was divided into two classes.

The main symbol of the award was the Maltese cross in green and red colors. The center of the cross is occupied by the image of a white bird with outstretched wings, which looks like a falcon. The V-class cross has a simpler shape. The eight-pointed star of the order repeats the symbolism of the cross. When awarding for military merit, swords are added to the badges of the order. The motto of the order: "VIGILANDO ASCENDIMUS" (Lat. "We rise with vigilance").
