The original medal is in excellent condition. Silver 990 samples, stamped. The weight is 28.8 grams. The size is 37*50 mm. The central part of one of the sides is occupied by the figure of a naked ancient Germanic warrior, who swung a massive sword to strike. This image symbolizes the determination, strength and military spirit of the nation in the face of the outbreak of war. On the sides of the warrior is a text in German: "DAS HOECHSTE HEIL – DAS LETZTE LIEGT IM SCHWERTE". Just below the right is the name of the author of the line: "KOERNER". The phrase translates as "The highest good, the last [means of salvation] is in the sword!". This is the famous line from the poem "The Call" (Aufruf) by the German patriotic poet Theodor Körner, written in 1813 during the War of Liberation against Napoleon. In 1914, these words became a popular propaganda slogan again. The obverse of this medal depicts the chest profile of Germany in a military image (with her hair down) and the circular inscription "DEUTSCHLAND UEBER ALLES IN DER WELT // MCMXIV". The author of the design of this famous medal is the outstanding German sculptor and medallist Hermann Hahn, whose signature H. HAHN is at the very bottom of the composition. Guarantee of authenticity.
