Saxony. Medal of Friedrich August in bronze on the ribbon for combatants

Medal Friedrich August — the state award of Saxony for awarding lower ranks of the army for excellence in service. In the hierarchy of the Saxon awards stood below the Military order of Saint Henry order medals. The medal was established on 23 April 1905 by king Friedrich August III. Had the standard for the medal round on one side was placed the Royal monogram from twisted Latin letters "F", "A" and "R" for"Friedrich August Rex", "king Friedrich August" with a crown in a Laurel wreath, on the other side the name of the award, Friedrich August Medaille, and floral ornament (Rutaceae wreath - a symbol of Saxony). The medal had two grades. For privates and corporals all degrees were executed in bronze for non-commissioned officers of silver. The bronze medal had a mass of 11.4 g, silver medal weighs 12,5 g. the Medal could be awarded also to women. Medals, awarded in time of peace, was worn on a yellow ribbon with black stripes. Medals awarded during the First world war wore a yellow ribbon with blue stripes. The medal ceased to present at the end of the First world war in connection with the collapse of the German Empire. However, the reward continued to be worn by their recipients in the years of the Third Reich in Germany, but not in the GDR.
