Prussian Order of the Crown of the 4th class in a case

The Order of the Crown was established by William I in 1861 upon his accession to the Prussian throne. Had four classes. It was awarded both for military merits and for civilian ones. Gold, silver and bronze medals are also attached to the Order. For military merit, the awardee received badges with swords. The Order could also be awarded with a miniature red cross for achievements in the field of healthcare. The Class I badge was worn on a ribbon over the left shoulder to the right hip, with a star on the left side of the chest. The Class II badge was worn around the neck, also with a star. The signs of the other classes are on the chest. A class I star is eight—pointed, a class II star is diamond—shaped. In the center of both stars is a medallion, similar to the medallion on the obverse of the badge of the order. The ribbon of the order is dark blue (since 1865 — lighter blue), in special cases the order could be awarded on the ribbon of the royal Order of the House of Hohenzollern.
