Established by Frederick the Great in memory of the battle of the Prague— the second major battle of the Seven Years ' War, which took place on May 6, 1757 at Prague between the 67-thousandth army of the Prussian King Frederick II and the 61-thousandth Austrian army under the command of the Prince of Lorraine, in which the Austrians were defeated.
