An extremely rare set of awards that belonged to Joseph L. Letart. LeTarte) – a veteran of the First World War. According to Massachusetts military records, Joseph Lethart was a resident of Methuen and served in the U.S. Army between 1917 and 1919 in the 17th Engineer Regiment, which was part of the 26th Infantry Division (known as the "Yankee Division"). It was there that most of the conscripts and volunteers from Massachusetts served. This division spent 210 days at the front in France and participated in all major battles (Saint-Miel, Meuse-Argonne offensive). He died on July 26, 1939. The set of his awards includes:
Some of the ribbons on the awards are damaged, as shown in the photo. Otherwise, the extremely rare set is in excellent condition.
