SAGANAKI GENSO of MASAKATU, Japan Edo, Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861 years.). Engraving from the series «47 Rodinov».
Saganaki Genso of Masakatu was one of 47 rodinov. He was a big fan of sake and even during the fight tied flask with this drink to the spear, and was drinking from it. The spear was his weapon of choice, which he skillfully mastered. Good condition.

Story about how forty-seven rodinov prepared and realized the plan of revenge Cyrus Kozuke-but-Suke, the official at the court of shogun Tokugawa cuneesi, for the death of his master, daimyo Asano Takumi-no-Kami Naganori from Ako. In 1701 Asano was sentenced to seppuku for the attack on official in response to the insults and humiliations on the part of the latter. Having lost his master, forty-seven rodinov (according to other sources there are more than 50), headed by the chief Advisor Oishi, Kuranosuke, have sworn to revenge the death for death, despite the fact that it was waiting for a death sentence. In order not to excite suspicion, the conspirators disappeared into the crowd, becoming merchants and monks, Oishi same moved to Kyoto and began to lead a dissolute way of life, divorced his wife and took a young concubine. Over time, learning that ronine dispersed in different directions, and Oishi drunk, Cyrus have relaxed their guard and became more careless. Forty-six remaining in Edo rodinov were buried in the monastery as their master. Their graves since become an object of worship, and clothing and their weapons are said to still keep the monks to Sangaku-JI temple. Due to the increasing people of popularity forty-seven ronin, the shogun received a lot of petitions for them, but, as expected, sentenced the conspirators to death. However, they were allowed to hold noble rite of ritual suicide, as was becoming a true samurai, instead of being executed as criminals. Seppuku took place on February 4, 1703. The remaining forty-six ronin in Edo were buried in the same monastery as their Lord. Their graves have since become the object of worship, and clothing and their weapons, as they say, still keep the monks Sengaku-JI temple. The good name of the genus Asano was restored, his family even returned part of the former possessions.
