Description

a Rare variant of a dagger, produced only two firms. The main difference daggers these manufacturers is the presence of an exclamation mark at the end of the motto on the right holoman blade.

  • the Base (heel) blade: applied autograph in the form of capital letters «J co» and the inscription «Jacobs & Co Solingen-Grafrath»- the stamp of the German company "Jacobs and Co», Solingen. The firm was founded in 1908, registered in 1919. Between 1933 and 1945 was made daggers and parts to them. RZM-codes of the firm: M7/26, M7/29 and M7/118.

  • Carbine suspension: there is the inscription “+AND DRGM» - «Deutsches Reich Gebrauchs Muster» - the stamp of the German patent.

Description: the Blade, straight, polished, rhombic-section, two-edges, without valleys. On the right holoman blade there is the inscription in Gothic font «Meine Ehre Heisst Treue!  - "My honor is called loyalty!&"is the motto of the SS detachments (rare variant of writing a slogan with an exclamation point). Efes consists of a handle, tops and crosses. The spider and the topping is made of neusilber, Nickel. The hilt of black wood in the upper part has a box with a black enamel eye with runes in the middle box in the form of an eagle SS made of neusilber. The sheath painted black. The device sheath from neusilber, Nickel-plated, consists of the mouth of a movable ring and tip with oval ball. The dagger is completed with rare original vertical suspension.

Historical background: «Dienstdolch  or business dagger was introduced by the order №  1734/33 of December 15, 1933, signed a temporary acting chief of staff of the SA Obergruppenfuhrer von Browserom (von Krausser). SS dagger was made in black and silver colors. On the blade of a dagger was placed motto engraved SS «Meine Ehre Heisst Treue» ( "My honor is called loyalty»), and the handle of a dagger was decorated with the image of eagle. The overall design of a dagger was based on the design of the daggers, which had spreading in Switzerland and Germany in the XV-XVII centuries - "daggers of Holbein», because the image of such a dagger came to us in the picture "Dance of death» German artist that time Holbein. Daggers were all the SS output and daily uniform. The dagger was presented at an award ceremony on 9 November each year, when cadets SS SS-Anwaerter) produced in members of the SS SS-Mann). In 1936-37, instead of stamps manufacturers began put the mark RZM, the sheath steel painted black, and non admissions committees are no longer used because RZM assumed control over the quality of daggers. Finally, in 1938 instead of Nickel-silver finish began to use silver steel, and the eagle on the handle was made of aluminum. Until November 1934 dagger hung askew on a single leather strap, and then by order of Himmler introduced vertical suspension of a dagger, which was used during the protection of the rallies. However, vertical suspension, although more reliable, did SS dagger similar to the regular army bayonet. So in 1936 again returned to the idea ignoremessage suspension, which began to use with casual and output uniform. Vertical suspension continued to use only during marches and military exercises.
