Albert Leo Schlageter (ger. Albert Leo Schlageter; August 12, 1894, schönau 26 may 1923, Golzheim, now a part of Dusseldorf) — German partisans, one of the main "martyrs" in the Nazi martyrology. Born in Schonau in a Catholic family. During the First world war he served in the army, fought on the Western front, awarded the Iron cross 1st and 2nd class. After the war some time studied political science at the University. He was a member of the ruthless, participated in Chapovska the coup.During the French occupation of the Ruhr in 1923 led the guerrilla army staged a sabotage on the Railways. Derailed several French trains. Was arrested by the French authorities, accused of espionage and sabotage and may 7, 1923, sentenced by court martial to death. Executed on 26 may 1923. Shortly after the death of shlageter Rudolf Hess with Martin Bormann killed Walter Kadova, which, as they suspected, given shlageter. For that, Hess was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and Bormann — on 1 year.Nazi propaganda used the name shlageter in their own interests as a symbol of national hero.
